What kind of camcorder should i get?

Rheba Cockman: Some clarifications:All the camcorders I have ever looked at have Playback and pause during playback capabilities. If by "Night Mode" you mean the ability to capture video in total darkness, only a few Sony camcorders can do that."Good vision/sound" by my definition - means big lenses and imaging chips for "good vision, and external mic connection and manual audio control."A lot of memory"... for what? Stills, video or both? Decent camcorders have removeable memory so when you fill what is there, take it out and put in an emty of whatever storage you are using - most typically, this will be miniDV tape or flash memory."Cheap" is a relative term. Personally, I would not want to buy anything that is "cheap" - though I would consider "inexpensive" - but again, that word meansdifferent things to different people. When looking at cameras that can record video, you can getPocket/mini camcorders up to about $250Entry level consumer camcorders up to about $600Mid-ra! nge consumer camcorders up to about $1,300High-end consumer - prosumer camcorders up to about $2,800Pro camcorders up to about $6,000and there are lots that go up higher than that...So... set a budget range, then see what is in that budget range - then we can help you pick something."Standby" in camcorders typically refers to the battery life when the camcorder is not recording or playing back video. It is "standing by" with power available waiting for you to do something....Show more
