Ideas for a sciece board game?

Maryland Gareau: Helping with info, but not gonna create your game - that's your project and part of the learning process that we all went through. Just gotta suck it up and do the assignment - get into it and try to kick some awesome grade butt :-)That said, here's the help I'm giving - pay attention to the game info I am providing, they should be of assistance. You didn’t give a grade level or branch of Science, so that make suggestions a bit more difficult to come up with.Basic Info on Sciencehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ScienceHere’s some game links to check out, pay attention to the mechanics and how they “make” the game play â€" it should be engaging and fun. Some games with themes of "Science"* Leonardo & Co - The Amazing Science Quizhttp://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/10299/leona...* 20 Questions: Nature and Sciencehttp://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/25151/20-qu...* Top Careers In Sciencehttp://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/26484/top-c...* Professor! Here's a link for many different mechanics that you could consider when creating a game:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgamemecha...Remember that it’s perfectly acceptable, and adds complexity, to have more than one mechanic used in the game. For example, the use of all the following:* Betting / Wagering* Memory* Roll and Move* Set Collection* Triv! iaInfo on boardgames:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BoardgamePAR! TSFor a board, the easiest thing is to "cannibalize" an old game that's not being used. Go check out your local resale shops (Goodwill, Salvation Army) or garage sales. You can usually find board games very inexpensive - only a couple of dollars max. Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly, Sorry are all good ones to use.Use the board, but make some changes in the appearance - custom graphics, etc. that go with your chosen topic/subjectKeep the existing playing pieces cuz you'll need pieces. If you need cards, you can make them from poster board.GAME PLAYYou could make some trivia questions based on the subject matter, and base movement of the playing pieces on the correct answering of the questions. Perhaps different levels of questions gain more or less movements - answer partially, fully or TMI. You could also have dice for "bonus" rolls. If people are interested in what you present, they'll get involved, and that will make your project look good! The game ends when a pre-determined g! oal is reached - number of points or collecting pieces (like Trivial Pursuit's "pie") or sets (like the card game Rummy) or traveling from one point to another (like Sorry).Of course those examples are Very Basic ones. Depending on the demographics that you're trying to appeal to, you'll probably want to develop something a bit more range specific.Hope this helps!...Show more

Donte Hamme: get a dice label a board containing the different branches of science, when one rolls the dice and moves his piece and lands somewhere like "astronomy", you have to ask them a question related to astronomy and if they get it right, they get another roll or whatever but if they get it wrong, you have to make a stack of cards that tell them what they have to do so that They wont have to move back
