Perhaps it's not what you wanted to hear but sometimes we all get doctors and dentists that just don't seem to know much. So we try another. Your teeth do seem overly sensitive, whic! h makes me wonder if you have them bleached often. If so, then stop. Your enamel does seem very thin. You could get a sealant on each tooth to protect them. But our dental insurance covers only certain teeth and any teeth that aren't covered cost us $25 each. So shop for a good dentist and if he suggest doing this process then make sure you know ahead of time which teeth your insurance will cover okay. Good luck....answers 2:Thanks for all the information guys. just in relation to one of the questions - i dont bleach my teeth, but i did go through a stage about 2 years ago where i had an obsession of brushing them after everthing i ate. could that cause the wearing out of enamel?answers 3:its likely that the root surface of your tooth is exposed this is the most common cause of tooth sensitivity. It could also be a deep cavity that is iritating the nerve of your tooth but if that were the case the dentist would have found it. Go to a new dentist, there are a couple ways t! o desentize teeth in office. One is using a machine called th! e HealOzone which is ozone therapy on the roots, but there are not many of those machines around it will be hard to find a dentist that has one. The other is to have the root sealed with a dental adhesive called a 6th generation adhesive. The best one is Clearfil SE bond. Sensodyne can work also but its not great against extreme sensitivity. I would recomend keep using it though but make sure that you use it with an EXTRA SOFT toothbrush or you are just scrubbing away any protection it gives you....answers 4:You may have exposed margins (the very top of the tooth). Your gums may have receded leaving the margins vulnerable to hot/cold.If that's the case, your dentist can prescribe something like Gel-Kam (a stannous fluoride gel treatment). This can help protect exposed margins.Di you have periodontal disease? Be sure to floss at least once a day before brushing. After brushing, use something like Listerine.Maybe you need a new dentist or even a periodontist (a specialist! in gum problems)....
