Donald Caravalho: The real estate crisis will continue to get worse until the general economic health of the US improves. When companies, investment firms and banks stop failing, the credit market will unfreeze a bit. When banks feel safer lending money for mortgages and unemployment stops skyrocketing, the crisis will be over. I don't think anyone can confidently predict the end to such a wide reaching issue. Lots of things need to get better before real estate will.
Vernon Martorana: I've started in real estate in 1978 and times were! tough then, people were asking the same question you are. Then it happened again in the late 80's and last 6-7 years. Everyone who bought a home made money. Nobody can predict the future, especially this time around because history is being made. All you can do is save your money, build up your credit score and when you are able go for it. As long as you have a fixed loan with a payment you can afford and you like the home enough to stay put you'll be fine. In the meantime keep asking questions and if you want to learn more, check out neighborhoods where you would like to live, learn the prices and learn about lender requirements.
